We as Braves fans should be used to this by now. Showing up to the party, but we are a tad late. Maybe we like to make an entrance? I hope not, although it is nice to be the center of attention for sure!
Last night’s win had everything I had hoped for on Tuesday night. A dominant pitching performance and an offensive explosion. Matt Kemp went 1-3 and picked up not only his first hit but his first RBI with the Braves. All nine hitters for the Braves played a role in the victory last night including pitcher Rob Whalen at the plate who had a sacrifice bunt. Whalen also took control of the Pittsburg Pirates bats after giving up 4 runs in the 1st inning.
Gordon Beckman leading off had a hit in the later innings and played a remarkable defensive CF. Adonis Garcia continued his wonderful batting performance last night going 2 for 5 with an RBI. Freddie Freeman also enjoyed the hitting parade going 1 for 3 with an RBI. Nick Markakis also contributed with an RBI. A red hot Erick Ibyar put his chips on the table and enjoyed an RBI. Catcher Anthony Recker had a big night at the plate going 2 for 4 with a couple of RBIs.
It was a lot of fun for this Braves fan watching the bats come alive. I must admit after Rob Whalen gave up 4 runs in the top of the first inning, I thought the game was going to be an offensive explosion for the Pirates. Little did I know that an explosion was on the horizon but, it was an explosion for the bats of the Atlanta Braves that would give us an early evening celebration!!! Well done Braves, well done indeed!
The 4th of July may have come a day late, but the fireworks lit up the sky and brought a joy and happiness to this Braves fan’s heart. Let’s keep this trend going and we will no longer be at the bottom looking up at the NL East much longer. FIREWORKS ALL AROUND!!!!!!!!
