I guess I had grown slightly accustomed to watching the Braves score a lot of runs on this road trip. When I saw last night’s pitching match up, I was quite excited. Joel De La Cruz for the Atlanta Braves vs. Jeff Samarchzija of the San Francisco Giants. I have been following Samarchzija since he was a Tight End for the University of Notre Dame.
It was a big night of offense last night, unfortunately all the runs scoring took place in the Giants line up. The Braves were not embarrassed. Ender Inciatre went 1 for 4 with a double. Freddie Freeman had a productive night at the plate going 2 for 4 with a double. Nick Markakis had yet another hit going 1 for 4. Jace Peterson was 1 for 4 with a stolen base. Dansby Swanson continued his hot streak going 1 for 4. De La Cruz joined the hit parade going 1 for 4 at the plate.
The Giants had a huge night at the plate. Their line up included Denard Span going 2 for 4 with an RBI. Angel Pagan was 1 for 4 with a home run, that knocked in 2 RBIs. Buster Posey was 2 for 4 at the plate. Brandon Belt was very productive at the plate batting 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. Joe Panik was 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs and a double. Jeff Samarchzija not only dominated the Braves on the mound, he decided to be productive at the plate as well going 1 for 2 with a double.
My sister and her children are huge Giants fans. I see pictures of my nephews and niece wearing Giants jerseys all the time. Buster Posey is one of my nephews favorite players. Last night it was my sister’s turn to celebrate the victory. However, I hope to be the one smiling and jumping up tonight in the second game of this series.
