The Atlanta Braves game last night was a joy to watch. As many of you should know by now, I’m a huge Braves fan. I’m a baseball fan fist, but I follow the Braves closer than any other team. My room and closet are full or Braves shirts, ball caps, and bobble heads. I even have a mini pendant having, oh yeah and an autographed Jason Heyward baseball from his rookie year in Atlanta. I thought I’d hang onto the for awhile.
The Braves bats came out swinging last night. They were glad to be home after a road trip to Arizona and San Fransisco. Plus when you give the team and coaches a day off on Monday, it helps bring normalcy back to everyone. Next season, it might be a good idea to take a break from baseball when the team does. There are other games to write about after all. But one day off every week or 2 might refresh my mind and soul.
After the first few innings, the game was already 5-0 and Teheran wanted his first home victory in Atlanta. The problem with being the #1 starter for your team is that you usually pitching against the ace for the other team. There have been games this season where Teheran only allowed 1 or 2 runs at home, but still had a no decision. Not last night though, Teheran would not be denied. The Braves line up were happy to provide Julio with not only run support but a lot of it.
Adonis Garcia went 2 for 5 with an RBI. I’m not sure what Freddie Freeman eats for breakfast, but I’ll have the same. Freeman went 1 for 3 driving in an RBI. Tyler Flowers only had 1 at bat but he made the most of it going 1 for 1 with an RBI. Jace Peterson was having fun going 2 for 4 and 2 RBIs. Not to be outdone, Dansby Swanson wanted a ride on the hitting machine, he went 2 for 4 knocking in 3 RBIs. It is nice to see the Braves play so well at home.
Oswaldo Arcia likes hitting in Atlanta as well going 2 for 4 with a 3 run home run. Well done indeed Oswaldo. Your performance was good and notable but last night belonged to the Braves. Enjoy the rest of the season Braves fans. I know I will.
