Yesterday afternoon’s game between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs lived up to all the hype. This game was a potential post season game in the National League. The Cubs have the best record in baseball, and they are the first team in MLB to clinch a play off berth. The Brewers are their division rival, but the Cubs didn’t just lay down.
It took an extra inning at Wrigley field but the crowd’s reaction was explosive. Miguel Montero of the Cubs cranked a home run out of the ball park that seemed to leave a vapor trail. There was very little doubt just from the sound of the bat. Watching baseball up to eight hours a day can possibly give you an ear from bloop single hits and bat smashing home runs.
Blaine Boyer of the Brewers knew that he selected the wrong pitch. He didn’t need to turn around and see if the outfielder was going to make an epic catch. Unless the OF can crawl several rows back, there was no chance of a catch. The entire game was a back and forth battle. The Brewers has an 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 8th inning. The Cubs rallied back to tie the game at 4-4. Then the bottom of the 10th inning happened.
There is no reason for Brewers fans to hang their heads. There are 2 wild card positions up for grabs. There are less than 3 weeks left of the regular season left. The time for teams to start winning every possible game is here. The Brewers can have a great play off run, they just played the best team in MLB. Today is a new day, same teams but possible different outcomes. Enjoy afternoon baseball everyone.
